LIFESAVING ROADWAY SAFETY DEVICES & NEW INVENTIONS ON DISPLAY AT THE ERNEST N. MORIAL CONVENTION CENTER IN NEW ORLEANS, JAN. 31-FEB. 2, 2016
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (January 30, 2016) – The American Traffic Safety Services Association’s (ATSSA) 46th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo – North America’s largest trade show for roadway safety products and services – kicks off at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Jan. 31 through Feb. 2, 2016.
Nearly 3,000 roadway safety professionals from 52 countries will display and demonstrate lifesaving roadway safety products on 200,000-square-feet of the exhibit hall. ATSSA members manufacture and install the various roadway safety devices that motorists drive by and use each day. The products include bright, reflective signs, roadway striping, lighting, reflective garments and work zone safety equipment.
According to the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse’s most recent statistics, about 33,000 people died in crashes on the roadways across the country in 2013. In addition, nearly 600 fatalities occur in America’s roadway work zones each year. Of work zone fatalities, 75 percent are motorists and not the workers. The latest federal statistics from 2013 available reveal 695 motorists are killed on Louisiana’s roadways and another eight are fatalities in the state’s work zones.
ATSSA member products play a significant role in helping to reduce roadway crashes and fatalities through technology, research and new innovations. ATSSA members are committed to reducing the number of injuries and fatalities on roadways and work zones through the implementation of their lifesaving products.
