Top Ten city park playgrounds
A report made public by The Trust for Public Land’s Center for City Park Excellence earlier this year rated park playgrounds in cities across the country on access, staffing, types of facilities, amount of funding and more. The results included the following ranking.
Park playgrounds per 10,000 residents (does not include school playgrounds)
- Madison, Wis. 7.2
- Cincinnati, Ohio 5.1
- Virginia Beach, Va. 4.8
- Corpus Christi, Texas 4.5
- Detroit, Mich. 4.5
- Omaha, Neb. 4.4
- Pittsburgh, Pa. 4.2
- Glendale, Calif. 4.2
- Norfolk, Va. 4.1
- Sacramento, Calif 4.0
Also:
*Most basketball hoops per 10,000 residents (by city): Madison, Wis. 10.7
*Most recreation and senior centers per 20,000 (by city): Baton Rouge, La. 3.0
*Most disc golf courses per 100,000 residents (by city): Durham, N.C. 1.7
*Most tennis courts per 10,000 residents (by city): Norfolk, Va. 6.0
